Al-Markaziya news agency reported on Monday that a joint Lebanese-Syrian committee—consisting of two representatives each from the respective countries—was tasked to produce a report proposing solutions to the issue of Lebanese detainees in Syria.
Lebanon and Syria signed last month 17 bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding for cooperation in various fields. The agreements were signed by relevant ministers from both countries following talks in Damascus by the Lebanese-Syrian coordination follow-up committee.
Both countries are working to settle the issue by transferring Lebanese prisoners in Syria back to their home-country, which would handle the rest of their legal status.
