Israeli soldiers abduct Lebanese teen shepherd from south

BEIRUT: Lebanon has lodged a complaint against Israel to the United Nations Security Council to protest the kidnapping of a citizen in South Lebanon by an Israeli patrol Sunday afternoon. Israeli troops abducted a Lebanese boy in South Lebanon on Sunday, the National News Agency (NNA) reported. The 17-year old shepherd, Rabih Zahra, was tending a flock of sheep near Kfar Shouba when he was abducted. According to NNA, Zahra is being detained at the Zebdine military compound.
Spokesman of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Niraj Singe said that based on information available to the peacekeeping force, the Israeli Army has detained a Lebanese citizen in the vicinity of the Shebaa Farms in south Lebanon, adding that he was currently held by the Israeli Army.
In comments carried by the NNA, Singe added that newly-appointed UNIFIL Commander, General Alberto Asarta Cuevas was conducting contacts with the concerned sides in order to resolve the matter.
Singe added that UNIFIL had dispatched a search team to the region where the citizen was kidnapped to learn more about the incident. – The Daily Star
